PRP and PRF: what’s the difference?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is obtained by rapid centrifugation, usually with an anticoagulant, resulting in a liquid concentrate that can be injected immediately.
PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) relies on slower centrifugation without additives: the fibrin naturally forms a network that traps platelets and leukocytes. This matrix releases its growth factors gradually rather than all at once. This is often referred to as the next generation of PRP.
A 100% autologous approach
The advantage of these protocols lies in the complete absence of exogenous products: nothing is added to the patient’s blood, eliminating concerns about tolerance and choice of molecules. In return, the result depends directly on the quality of the blood draw and adherence to the centrifugation protocol.
