Kokoelma: Collagen biostimulators

Collagen biostimulators do not fill: they trigger collagen production by the skin itself. Here are the three main technologies — poly-L-lactic acid, polycaprolactone, and calcium hydroxyapatite — reserved for healthcare professionals.

A different logic from filling

Where a filler immediately occupies volume, a biostimulator causes a controlled tissue reaction that results in neocollagenesis. The result develops over several weeks and generally lasts longer than a filler product. This gradual effect is also an aesthetic advantage: the change goes unnoticed by the patient’s entourage.

The three technologies

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the oldest and best-documented stimulator, with Sculptra for the face and Lanluma available in both facial and large body volume versions.

Polycaprolactone (PCL) combines an immediate filling effect with prolonged stimulation, with Ellansé and its various durations of action, as well as Gouri, a liquid formulation of DexLevo.

Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) provides immediate structure and support while stimulating collagen, with Radiesse, the historic reference in the category.

Proper indication

Biostimulators address a loss of skin quality and density rather than a localized volume deficit. They are often combined with filler products in a comprehensive facial approach. The choice of technology, dilutions, injection plane, and number of sessions depends on the practitioner’s assessment.
