A unique area

The skin around the eyes is three to four times thinner than the rest of the face, low in sebaceous glands, and subjected to thousands of blinks per day. It shows signs of aging more quickly and poorly tolerates active ingredient concentrations that are tolerated elsewhere. Hence, specific formulations that are less concentrated but better tolerated.

Identifying the type of dark circle

Pigmented dark circles, brown in color, result from excess melanin and respond to depigmenting agents. Vascular dark circles, bluish or purplish, indicate circulatory stasis and call for vein-toning and decongestant agents. Finally, hollow dark circles are a volume issue that topical treatments cannot correct — they require injections. Many patients have a combination of all three.

Available references

Treatments from Fillmed, Innoaesthetics, Cebelia, and Vivacy cover the different indications, with formulas targeted at pigmented dark circles in the MeLine range.

Complementary to injections

Topical treatments deliver their best results when combined: after a tear trough treatment or a session of polynucleotides, they maintain the benefits between appointments.
